Anker SOLIX E10 Whole Home Backup System: Modular LiFePO4 Storage, Solar and Generator in One Smart Hybrid

The E10 is a modular home backup system rather than a single appliance. A power module provides the inverter, the MPPTs and the control system; B6000 battery modules stack onto it for capacity; and a Smart Inlet Box or Power Dock connects the whole thing to your panel. Start at 6,144 Wh with one battery and grow to roughly 30 kWh per unit, or around 90 kWh across three units on a Power Dock.

What makes it a hybrid rather than just a battery is that it takes power from three directions. Up to 9 kW of DC solar per unit through dual 30 to 450 V MPPTs, grid charging on off-peak rates, and a generator, either the Anker Smart Generator 5500 over DC or any 120 V / 240 V AC generator through a 9.6 kW bypass. That combination is what turns a battery that runs out into backup that does not.

Why the E10

Buy What You Need, Add the Rest Later

One power module takes up to five B6000 batteries. A Power Dock takes up to three power modules. Every step up is a module you stack, not a system you replace, which is unusual in whole-home storage.

9 kW of Solar Per Unit, DC or AC Coupled

Dual MPPTs accept 30 to 450 V at 4,500 W each, so 9 kW per E10 and up to 27 kW across three. Existing AC rooftop solar is handled through the current transformers instead, so you are not choosing between the two.

7.68 kW Continuous, 10 kW Turbo, 155 A LRA

Per unit, with two or more battery modules. Bypass runs to 9,600 W at 40 A. Anker rates a dual E10 setup at 275 A LRA, which is enough to start a 5-ton and a 3-ton air conditioning system together.

NEMA 4 (IP66) Means No Shelter

The power and battery modules carry a full IP66 rating rather than the NEMA 3R of the switchgear. Mount it on a wall in a flood-prone area, on a metal pad, on the floor, or on a trolley if the system needs to move.

UL 9540 and 9540A Certified

Certified to ANSI/CAN/UL 9540 and evaluated under 9540A for fire behaviour and thermal runaway. This is the certification set your authority having jurisdiction will ask about, and it is worth confirming before you commit to any residential battery.

The Smart Generator 5500 is not sold into California. Installation is not included; Anker puts a Smart Inlet Box install at around two hours and a Power Dock install at four to six hours, and a permit is generally required.

Both options support solar, generators and time-of-use rate plans, and neither exports power to the grid. Choose the Smart Inlet Box if you are comfortable operating breakers by hand and want lower up-front cost; choose the Power Dock if you want the changeover to happen on its own or plan to expand past one E10.

How big a system do I actually need?
Start from your loads rather than a capacity number. One battery module (6,144 Wh) covers a fridge, lighting, networking and a few outlets through a typical overnight outage. Two modules and up is where air conditioning and well pumps become realistic, because the second battery is what raises the LRA equivalent to 155 A and unlocks the 10 kW turbo output. Should I get the Smart Inlet Box or the Power Dock?
The Smart Inlet Box is manual: during an outage you go to the panel, kill the grid breaker, engage the interlock and close the off-grid breaker. It supports one E10 and installs in about two hours. The Power Dock transfers automatically in 20 ms, supports up to three E10 units, and gives you twelve monitored circuits with priority rules, at a higher cost and a four to six hour install. If you plan to expand, the Power Dock is the one that lets you.
What is the real maximum capacity?
A single E10 supports up to about 30 kWh, dual E10 about 60 kWh, and triple E10 about 90 kWh. Anything beyond a single unit requires a Power Dock. Note that the configurations offered on this page do not run all the way to 90 kWh, so call us if you are planning a larger build.
Can I use it with the rooftop solar I already have?
Yes, through the current transformers rather than by rewiring your array. The PV current transformer lets the system see AC-coupled production so it can bank the surplus. If you are adding new panels, connecting them as DC solar straight into the E10 MPPTs is simpler and avoids a solar contractor for the array side.
Does it sell power back to the grid?
No. Neither the Smart Inlet Box nor the Power Dock supports export. The system stores surplus for your own consumption. If your economics depend on net metering credits, this is the wrong product and worth knowing before you order.
How does it handle a very long outage?
That is what the generator integration is for. The Anker Smart Generator 5500 charges the batteries over DC at up to 4,500 W and can start on its own from the app or on a schedule, so backup effectively becomes indefinite. Any 120 V / 240 V AC generator works too, through a 9,600 W bypass and the AC Generator Adapter, though AC charging is less efficient and Anker recommends a generator with THD under 10 percent.
Can it be installed outdoors, and in what climate?
The power and battery modules are NEMA 4 (IP66) and the datasheet rates them from -4 F to 131 F. In cold weather the system runs a heating film below 59 F and limits charging power at both temperature extremes to protect cell life, so expect slower winter charging by design.
What does installation involve and do I need a permit?
Anker puts a Smart Inlet Box install at about two hours and a Power Dock install at four to six hours. A permit is generally required from your local authority having jurisdiction, and your electrician should confirm requirements before ordering. In many areas the utility must pull the meter seal before service conductors can be touched.
How long will the batteries last?
Anker rates the pack at 80 percent capacity retention after 4,000 charge cycles, with a five-year warranty on the power and battery modules and ten years on the Smart Inlet Box or Power Dock. Daily time-of-use cycling for a decade still leaves you inside that cycle count.
Is it safe to put a battery this size on my house?
The system is certified to ANSI/CAN/UL 9540 and evaluated under UL 9540A, which assesses fire behaviour and thermal runaway specifically for residential energy storage. The battery modules are separately certified to ANSI/CAN/UL 1973 and use isolated cells with a pressure-relief valve. That is the documentation your inspector will want to see.
