Buying the inverter and batteries together matters more than convenience: SunGoldPower's own batteries communicate with these inverters over CAN and RS485, so the inverter reads real state of charge and charge limits from the battery BMS rather than estimating from voltage. For most homes it covers everything you'd actually run at once — the constraint is simultaneous load, not service size. A 200A service rarely draws anywhere near 200A. What does the 6HP motor rating mean in practice?
It's the largest motor the inverter can start. 6HP covers most residential well pumps, pool pumps and air conditioning compressors. If you have something larger — a deep-well submersible or a commercial compressor — tell us the locked-rotor amps and we'll check it rather than assume.
How much solar can I connect?
11,000W across two MPPTs, each accepting 22A within a 125–425V window with a 500V ceiling. Solar charging current is 200A, the highest in the range, which means the battery refills fast when the sun is good.
Should I buy this or the 8KW?
The 10KW gives you 2000W more continuous output, 4000W more peak, 20A more solar charging and 20A more AC charging — in the same case at the same weight. If your load list is close to 8000W, the extra headroom is usually worth having, since running an inverter near its limit continuously is hard on it.
Which batteries pair with it?
Any 48V lithium or lead-acid bank electrically, but for closed-loop CAN or RS485 communication SunGoldPower's SG48100P and SG48200T work out of the box. At 10kW output you want a bank rated to discharge at that level — pairing a large inverter with a small battery is the most common mistake we see.
Can this sell power back to the grid?
No. The SPH series is an off-grid and backup platform — it accepts grid or generator power as an input to charge your batteries and to pass through to your loads, but it does not export to the utility. If grid export or net metering is what you want, SunGoldPower's SGN hybrid series is the range to look at instead.
Can I parallel it for three-phase?
Yes — three or more units in parallel support 208V three phase, up to six units and 60kW. That takes the same platform into light commercial territory, which is simpler to support than mixing equipment.
What is the difference between charging modes and output modes?
Charging modes decide where the energy going into the battery comes from — solar, grid, or both. Output modes decide where the energy powering your loads comes from — battery, solar, grid, or a blend. They're set independently, which is what lets you build a strategy around a time-of-use tariff.
Do I need a licensed electrician?
For anything that connects to your home's electrical service, yes — that is permitted, inspected work in every US jurisdiction. A standalone off-grid system in a cabin or workshop with no utility connection is treated differently depending on where you are, but the wiring still has to be done to code.
