Anker SOLIX Home Backup Kit: A 30A Six-Circuit Manual Transfer Switch for the F-Series

A Reliance Pro/Tran 2 manual transfer switch, pre-wired, in an indoor metal cabinet, rated 30 A across six circuits. It is the cheapest legitimate way to get an Anker SOLIX power station feeding real household circuits instead of extension cords, and because it is listed to UL 1008 and meets NEC Article 702 it eliminates the back-feeding hazard that makes improvised connections dangerous.

Compatibility is the thing to check before ordering. This kit uses an L5-30 inlet and is rated 120 V, which pairs it with the Anker SOLIX F2000, F2600 and F3000. If you own an F3800 or F3800 Plus with split-phase 120 V / 240 V output, you want one of the L14-30 kits instead. Getting this wrong means the switch physically will not connect.

Will this work with my F3800?
No. This kit is rated 120 V with an L5-30 inlet, which matches the F2000, F2600 and F3000. The F3800 and F3800 Plus produce split-phase 120 V / 240 V through an L14-30 port, and need a kit with a matching L14-30 inlet. Anker sells both a 6-circuit and a 10-circuit version for those units. Does it switch over automatically?
No. This is a manual transfer switch. When the grid drops you connect the power station to the inlet and flip the circuit toggles yourself, and reverse that when utility power returns. Automatic transfer requires the Home Power Panel or, on the E10 system, the Power Dock.
Which six circuits should I pick?
Refrigeration first, then lighting, networking, and a furnace blower if you have gas heat. Each circuit is limited to 15 A single-pole on this kit, so high-draw 240 V appliances are out of scope here by design. Decide the list with your electrician before the work starts.
Do I really need an electrician?
Anker notes the kit arrives fully pre-wired inside its cabinet, which removes a lot of the work. What remains is connecting it to your existing panel, which means working on a live service, and a permit is generally required in most jurisdictions. We recommend a licensed electrician for that step regardless of how much is pre-wired.
Why not just use an extension cord or a generator cord?
A transfer switch physically isolates your circuits from the utility feed. Back-feeding through a dryer outlet or a double-male cord energises the line outside your house, which can kill a line worker and is illegal in every jurisdiction in the country. That is what UL 1008 and NEC 702 exist to prevent.
What happens when the power station runs out?
You disconnect it from the inlet and recharge it from a wall outlet once utility power is back, or from solar during the outage. A manual switch has no way to manage that for you, which is one argument for pairing it with panels.
Can I upgrade to more circuits later?
You would be replacing the switch rather than expanding it. If you think six circuits will not be enough, or you may move to an F3800 later, buying the larger kit at the outset saves paying an electrician twice.
Is the wattage meter useful in practice?
Very. Power stations trip on overload rather than browning out, so seeing what each leg is drawing before you switch on a fifth circuit is the difference between a managed outage and a dark house at midnight while you work out what caused it.
