No — a single unit is 120V. Split-phase 120/240V output requires two or more units in parallel, and only the SPH5048P version can be paralleled. If you need 240V from one box, look at SunGoldPower's 6.5KW, 8KW or 10KW split-phase models instead. This is the single most common misunderstanding on this product, so it's worth being clear about before you order.
Which version should I buy?
The SPH5048P unless budget is tight and you are certain the system will never grow. It gives you 100A of solar charging rather than 80A, and it is the only one of the two that can be paralleled — which means it is the only one that can later become a larger system or produce split-phase output.
What will 5000W run?
A refrigerator, lighting, networking, a well pump, a 15,000 BTU air conditioner, or a workshop's tools — several of those together up to the limit. The 4HP motor rating covers most residential pumps. 10,000VA of peak handles their startup surge.
How much solar can I connect?
5500W through a single MPPT tracker, within a 120–450V window and a 500V open-circuit ceiling. One tracker means all your panels need similar orientation and shading — if you have two roof faces, an inverter with two MPPTs like the 6.5KW is a better fit.
Can it charge from solar and the grid at the same time?
Yes — that's the hybrid charging mode, and total charging current is settable up to 100A. In practice most people use solar priority, which charges from panels first and only draws from the grid when solar can't keep up.
What's the difference between charging modes and output modes?
Charging modes decide where energy going into the battery comes from. Output modes decide where energy powering your loads comes from. They're independent, which is what lets you build a sensible strategy — for example charging from solar only, while running loads from the grid during the day and battery at night.
Does it support closed-loop battery communication?

At 28.7 lbs, is it easy to install?
It's the lightest 5kW unit in the range and a realistic one-person wall mount, which is a genuine advantage over the 42 to 59 lb split-phase models. The electrical work still needs doing properly, but getting it on the wall is straightforward.

For anything that connects to your home's electrical service, yes — that is permitted, inspected work in every US jurisdiction, and a grid-interactive hybrid inverter usually needs a utility interconnection agreement as well.
