SunGoldPower SGH48100T 48V 100Ah Self-Heating Server Rack Battery (5.12kWh)
The same 5.12kWh rack format as the SG48100P, with self-heating added — and that single feature is what makes it usable in an unheated garage, an outbuilding or a cold plant room through winter. The heater engages between −25°C and 5°C and switches off at 12°C, so the battery warms itself and keeps charging rather than locking out.
4.92kWh usable from a 5.12kWh nameplate, over 7,000 deep cycles, up to 96% depth of discharge, and 100A of maximum discharge with 200A available for fifteen seconds. RS485 and CAN with documented compatibility across Growatt, Deye, Sol-Ark, SunGoldPower, Luxpower, EG4, Victron, Schneider, SMA and Solis. Why the SGH48100T
Self-Heating from −13°F
The heater engages between −25°C and 5°C and stops at 12°C — so cold weather does not stop it charging.
4.92kWh Usable of 5.12kWh
SunGoldPower publishes the usable figure as well as the nameplate, which makes system sizing honest.
7,000+ Deep Cycles
At up to 96% depth of discharge, behind a 10-year warranty and a 15-year design life.
200A Peak for 15 Seconds
100A continuous discharge with real peak headroom for inverter surge and motor startup.
RS485 and CAN
Documented with Growatt, Deye, Sol-Ark, SunGoldPower, Luxpower, EG4, Victron, Schneider, SMA and Solis.
32 Units in Parallel
Plug-and-play expansion to around 164kWh on one platform.
Datasheet, UL 1973 certificate and warranty documentation
A rack or cabinet, battery-to-inverter cables, communication cables and fusing are separate purchases. SunGoldPower does not publish an IP rating for this model, so treat it as an indoor product and keep it dry. Do not wire these in series — expansion is by parallel connection only. Call us at (303) 876-7654 and we'll build the list with you.

Self-Heating Activation
Engages when battery temperature is between −13°F and 41°F (−25°C to 5°C)
Lithium cells are damaged by charging below freezing, so an unheated battery simply blocks charging when it's cold. This one warms its own cells using a little of its stored energy, engaging between −25°C and 5°C and stopping at 12°C. In practical terms it's the difference between a battery that works through a Colorado winter in an unheated garage and one that sits idle for four months.
Should I buy this or the SG48100P?
Buy this one if the battery will live anywhere that drops below freezing — a garage, an outbuilding, an unheated plant room. Buy the SG48100P if it lives in conditioned space, since you'd be paying for a heater you never use, and it also allows 63 units in parallel against this one's 32.
What is the difference between 5.12kWh and 4.92kWh?
Nameplate versus usable. 5.12kWh is what the cells hold; 4.92kWh is what SunGoldPower says you can actually cycle in normal service. Sizing a system on the usable figure rather than the nameplate is the honest way to do it, and it's to their credit that they publish both.
What is closed-loop communication and why does it matter?
Without it, your inverter estimates the battery's state of charge from voltage — and LFP has such a flat discharge curve that voltage tells you very little. With CAN or RS485 communication, the battery's own BMS reports actual state of charge, cell temperatures and charge limits, and the inverter charges to those figures. It means accurate monitoring and charging that protects the cells properly rather than approximately.
Which inverters is it documented to work with?
Growatt, Deye, Sol-Ark, SunGoldPower's own, Luxpower, EG4, Victron Energy, Schneider, SMA and Solis. That's a broader list than the SG48100P and notably includes Sol-Ark and EG4. Protocol selection is usually a menu setting on the inverter — call us at (303) 876-7654 with your model and we'll confirm.
Can it go outside?
SunGoldPower doesn't publish an IP rating for this model, which means we won't tell you it's weatherproof. Treat it as an indoor product: a garage, a shed with a dry interior, or a plant room. The self-heating handles cold; it doesn't handle water.
How much can one battery deliver?
100A continuous, so around 5,120W of DC output, with 200A available for fifteen seconds. That peak rating is useful when an inverter surges to start a motor. For an inverter above about 4kW you want more than one battery.
Does the heater drain the battery?
It uses stored energy to warm the cells, so yes, but only when the temperature is in the activation band. The alternative is a battery that cannot charge at all in those conditions, so the trade is a straightforward one.
Why lithium iron phosphate rather than another lithium chemistry?
LFP trades a little energy density for a great deal of safety and service life. It does not have the thermal runaway behaviour nickel-based lithium chemistries can exhibit, it tolerates sitting at a high state of charge, and it lasts thousands of cycles rather than hundreds. For a battery living in a house, those are the properties that matter.
