EcoFlow RIVER 2 Max Portable Power Station (512Wh)
The RIVER 2 Max is the middle of EcoFlow's RIVER range and, for most people, the one that makes sense: 512Wh and 500W of output in a 13.4 lb package that charges from empty to full in an hour. That's enough to run a CPAP overnight, keep a projector and speakers going through a party, or carry a weekend of phones, drones and camera batteries.
X-Boost lifts the practical ceiling to 1000W, which covers most small kitchen appliances and power tools. LFP cells rated for 3,000 cycles to 80% capacity, sub-30ms EPS switchover so it works as a desk UPS, and app control over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Renewable Outdoors is an authorized EcoFlow dealer — call us at (303) 876-7654 if you'd like help deciding between this and the RIVER 2 Pro.

Why the RIVER 2 Max
Full Charge in 60 Minutes
660W of AC input takes it from empty to full in an hour — quick enough to top up before you leave rather than the night before.
500W Output, 1000W with X-Boost
Runs laptops, CPAPs, projectors and small appliances, and X-Boost handles resistive loads up to 1000W.
3,000 Cycles to 80%
LFP cells rather than the NMC chemistry usual at this size — roughly six times the cycle life.
13.4 lbs
Light enough for one hand and small enough for a car footwell, at 10.6 by 10.2 by 7.7 inches.
Under 30ms UPS Switchover
EPS auto-switch keeps a desktop, a modem or a fish tank pump running through a blackout without a reboot.
220W of Solar Input
An 11–50V MPPT window pairs it with EcoFlow portable panels or most third-party foldables.
What's Included
In the Box
1 × EcoFlow RIVER 2 Max power station
1 × AC charging cable
1 × Car charging cable
1 × DC5521 to DC5525 cable
User manual and warranty card
Plus the 160W portable solar panel if you choose that option
A solar charging cable (MC4 to XT60) is needed for third-party panels — EcoFlow's own portable panels include what they need. Call us at (303) 876-7654 if you're pairing it with a panel you already own.
With or Without a Solar Panel?
The power station is identical in both options. The question is whether you want a way to recharge away from a wall outlet.
Option
What You Get
Best For
RIVER 2 Max Only
512Wh power station with AC, car and DC charging cables
Home backup, desk UPS duty, and trips where you'll be back at an outlet within a day or two
RIVER 2 Max + 160W Solar Panel
The same unit plus a 160W foldable panel with kickstand and case
Camping, van life and multi-day off-grid use, where a wall outlet is the thing you do not have
The RIVER 2 Max accepts up to 220W of solar, so the 160W panel uses most of that headroom without wasting it. If you want the fastest possible solar recharge, call us at (303) 876-7654 and we'll look at pairing it with a 220W panel instead.

EcoFlow RIVER 2 Max Portable Power Station (512Wh): Frequently Asked Questions
What can 512Wh actually run, and for how long?
Divide 512 by the wattage of what you're running. A 10W CPAP without a humidifier goes most of two nights. A 60W laptop runs about seven hours. A 40W fridge in a van gets you around ten hours. A 700W microwave is fine in bursts with X-Boost on, but will eat the battery in minutes. Call us at (303) 876-7654 with your list and we'll check it.
Can it really charge in an hour?
Yes — 660W of AC input takes it from empty to full in about 60 minutes, which is one of the RIVER 2 range's genuinely distinctive features. Solar is slower and depends on your panel and the sun: 220W is the maximum input.
What is X-Boost and when should I use it?
X-Boost lets the unit run resistive devices rated above its 500W output — up to 1000W — by slightly reducing the voltage supplied to them. It works well for kettles, heaters, hair dryers and some power tools. It's not appropriate for sensitive electronics, and it's a setting you switch on in the app when you need it.
Is it good enough to use as a UPS?
Yes, for the right loads. It switches over in under 30 milliseconds, which keeps a desktop computer, a modem, a router, or an aquarium pump running through a short outage without a reboot. For medical devices, confirm the tolerance with the device manufacturer before you rely on it.
How does it compare to the RIVER 2 and the RIVER 2 Pro?
The RIVER 2 is 256Wh and 300W — a genuinely pocketable option for phones, laptops and lights. This one doubles the capacity and lifts output to 500W. The RIVER 2 Pro goes to 768Wh and 800W for the same footprint class. Pick by the biggest thing you need to run: under 300W, buy the RIVER 2; up to 500W, this; above that, the Pro.
Which solar panel should I use with it?
The 160W panel in the bundle option here is a sensible match. The maximum input is 220W, so a 220W panel is the fastest option and won't overload anything. Third-party panels work too as long as they fall inside the 11–50V window — we can check yours if you tell us the model.
Will it work in cold weather?
It discharges down to 14°F, but charging needs 32°F or above, which is normal for lithium batteries without built-in heating. In winter camping, keep it in the tent or the vehicle rather than outside overnight if you want to charge it in the morning.
How long will the battery last?
3,000 cycles to 80% or more of its original capacity. LFP chemistry is the reason — the nickel-based chemistries typically used at this size manage a few hundred cycles before the same decline. In practical terms this is a unit you'll still be using in a decade.
Can I charge it from my car while driving?
Yes — a car charging cable is included, and it accepts 12V or 24V at up to 100W. That's slow relative to AC charging, but on a long drive it's free energy. If you want fast vehicle charging, look at EcoFlow's alternator chargers, though those are aimed at larger units.
