12kW Grid / 10kW Backup · 19.2kW Solar · 3 MPPTs · 65 lbs · 10 Years

Sol-Ark Limitless 12K-2P-LL Hybrid Inverter (12kW Output, 19.2kW Solar)

The Limitless 12K is Sol-Ark's answer to a specific problem: most homes don't need 18kW, but they do need a proper hybrid inverter. This delivers 12kW to the grid or 10kW of continuous backup from batteries, takes 19.2kW of solar across three MPPTs, and does it in a 65 lb enclosure that's a third lighter and noticeably smaller than the 15K.

It supports both DC and AC coupling, so it suits new builds and retrofits equally. 100A grid passthrough, a 220A battery charger, Smart Load control for prioritising circuits, generator support through the multifunction GEN port, peak shaving, time-of-use and VPP capability. Renewable Outdoors is an authorized Sol-Ark dealer — call us at (303) 876-7654 and we'll check it fits your project.

Why the Limitless 12K

12kW Grid, 10kW Backup

Comfortably runs mini-split air conditioning, well pumps, kitchen appliances, furnace blowers and lighting.

19.2kW Solar Across 3 MPPTs

Dual PV strings per tracker at 32A each, plus up to 14kW of AC-coupled solar for retrofits.

65 lbs, Compact Footprint

Roughly half the weight of the 15K and a good deal smaller — easier to mount, easier to place.

Integrated Smart Load Control

Prioritise critical circuits so the important loads keep running as the battery draws down.

5ms Transfer, 97.6% Efficiency

Near-seamless backup with a multifunction GEN port for generator support during long outages.

Peak Shaving, TOU and VPP Ready

Shift load off expensive hours and join utility virtual power plant programs where they exist.

Sol-Ark Limitless 12K-2P-LL Hybrid Inverter (12kW Output, 19.2kW Solar): Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the older 12K-2P?
The Limitless 12K is the newer platform. It gives you three MPPTs instead of two, 19.2kW of rated PV instead of 13kW, a higher 12kW grid output, AC coupling up to 14kW, and it does all that in a lighter, smaller case. The older 12K-2P has a larger 63A-to-200A range difference in passthrough and a slightly different feature mix, so the right choice depends on your array size and whether you need whole-home passthrough.
Why is the grid output 12kW but the backup output only 10kW?
Grid-tied output can draw on solar and battery together with the grid present to stabilise things. In backup mode the inverter is forming the grid itself, which is harder, so the continuous figure is 10kW. Size your backup loads against 10kW and treat the 24kW ten-second surge as motor-startup headroom.
What is the 100A grid passthrough good for?
It supports a 100A service or a substantial critical-loads subpanel. If you have a 200A service and want everything backed up, the 15K or 18K with their 200A passthrough are the better fit. If you're backing up a defined set of circuits, 100A is plenty and you save meaningfully on the inverter.
Can I use it with my existing grid-tied solar?
Yes — that's what the 14kW of AC coupling is for. You keep the existing array and its microinverters or string inverter, and the Limitless 12K adds battery backup on the AC side. It's the standard way to retrofit storage without redoing an array.
What does Smart Load control do?
It lets you nominate which circuits keep running as the battery drains, and which get dropped. In a long outage that's what stops a space heater or a hot tub from emptying the bank that your refrigerator and well pump depend on.
Do I need a licensed electrician to install this?
Yes. A hybrid inverter ties into your main electrical service, and in every US jurisdiction that is licensed work requiring a permit and an inspection. The unit itself is pre-wired, which shortens the job considerably compared with assembling separate components, but it is not a DIY installation. We can talk you through what your installer will need before you order.
Which batteries work with it?
A wide range of 48V systems, communicating over CANbus, RS485 or MODBUS RTU. That covers most of the major server-rack and wall-mount lithium batteries on the market. The 220A charger sets how fast it can refill them.
Is it quiet enough to mount indoors?
It's designed for indoor or outdoor mounting at IP65 / NEMA 3R. Like all hybrid inverters it has cooling fans that run under load, so a garage, utility room or exterior wall is more typical than a living space. Its 96W idle consumption is worth knowing if it will sit lightly loaded for long periods.
How many can I parallel?
Up to 12 units, which covers everything from a single home to a light commercial installation. Most residential projects use one.
Do you offer financing or price matching?
Yes. We offer 0% APR financing options through Affirm at checkout, and our Lowest Price Guarantee applies — if you find this model cheaper at another authorized dealer, call us at (303) 876-7654 before you order and we'll take care of it.
