What exactly is in this bundle?
A Sol-Ark 18K-2P hybrid inverter and one EG4 48V 314Ah 16kWh indoor wall-mount battery. Those are the two expensive decisions in a home energy system, bought together and known to work together. Solar panels, racking, disconnects, conduit and installation labour are separate.
How long will 16kWh run my house?
12.86kWh is the usable figure at EG4's recommended 80% depth of discharge. A house running a refrigerator, lighting, networking and electronics at roughly 500W averaged over a day will get somewhere around 24 hours. Add central air conditioning and it's a few hours. Is one battery enough for this inverter?
It depends on what you're backing up. The battery discharges at up to 200A continuous, which is roughly 10kW — so a single battery cannot supply the inverter's full 18kW output. For essential loads that's fine. If you want to use the inverter's full capacity during an outage, you want at least two batteries. This bundle is a strong starting point that expands cleanly.
Can I add more batteries later?
Yes, and it's the normal path. The EG4 wall-mount supports up to 32 units in parallel, and the Sol-Ark has two 48V battery ports with a large charger. Adding a second battery later is straightforward and doesn't require changing the inverter.
Why buy them together rather than separately?
Compatibility and price. The Sol-Ark communicates with the EG4's battery management system over CAN/RS485, so state of charge, charge limits and protection are coordinated rather than approximated — that's not guaranteed with every inverter and battery pairing. Buying as a bundle also removes the risk of the two arriving weeks apart.
Where does the battery go?
Indoors, wall-mounted. It's IP20, so it cannot be installed outside or anywhere it might get wet. At 293 lbs it needs to be mounted into structure — studs or masonry, not drywall alone — and the wall needs to be able to carry it. Your installer will size the mounting accordingly.
Do I need an electrician?
Yes. The inverter ties into your main electrical service, which is permitted and inspected work in every US jurisdiction. Battery installation also has its own code requirements around location, clearances and, increasingly, system-level certification. This is not a DIY project.
How much solar can I add?
The 18K-2P accepts a substantial array — the figures are in the specification table above — and it also supports AC coupling if you already have grid-tied solar. In practice most homes run out of usable roof before the inverter runs out of capacity. We stock panels and can size an array against your roof.
What warranties apply?
Sol-Ark covers the inverter for 10 years. EG4 covers the battery for 10 years or 10,000 cycles, whichever comes first. Both go through the manufacturers' normal warranty processes, with our support behind them as an authorized dealer for each.
