The Anker SOLIX Smart Inlet Box (AS211) is the piece that connects a single Anker SOLIX E10 to your main electrical panel and turns it from a large battery into a whole-home backup system. Two ports do two different jobs: the backup port carries the house when the grid fails, and the on-grid port lets the E10 bank cheap or surplus power and spend it when rates are high. Three current transformers, both pre-terminated cables and the mounting hardware ship in the box.

It is a manual transfer device, and that is the honest trade-off for the lower up-front cost. During an outage you go to the panel, kill the grid breaker, throw the interlock and close the off-grid breaker, exactly as you would with a portable generator inlet. If you want the changeover to happen by itself in 20 milliseconds, with per-circuit control in the app and room for up to three E10 units, the Anker SOLIX Power Dock is the device built for that job.

The E10 power module, B6000 battery modules and the two breakers this installation needs are sold separately. Anker specifies a 40 A breaker on the grid port and a 50 A breaker on the off-grid port. The cable that joins the E10 to the inlet box is 5.9 ft (1.8 m), so plan both mounting positions within that distance of each other. We recommend a licensed electrician for the panel work and the interlock.

Does the Smart Inlet Box switch to backup power automatically?
No, and this is the single most important thing to understand before you buy. The Smart Inlet Box is a manual transfer device. When the grid drops, you walk to your electrical panel, turn off the grid breaker, slide the interlock, and turn on the off-grid breaker. It works the same way a portable generator inlet does. If you want the house to switch over on its own, Anker builds the Power Dock for that, which transfers automatically in 20 milliseconds or less.
How many Anker SOLIX E10 units can I connect to it?
One. The Smart Inlet Box pairs with a single E10 power module and its battery modules. If you plan to run two or three E10 units in parallel for more output, the Power Dock is the device that supports up to three.
How much power can my house pull during an outage?
7,680 W continuous through the backup port, and 10,000 W peak for up to 90 minutes when the E10 has two or more battery modules and starts below 86 F. Motor starting is rated at an LRA equivalent of 120 A with one battery module and 155 A with two or more, which is what determines whether a well pump or an air conditioner compressor will actually start.
Can it back up my entire panel, or only selected circuits?
The interlock works in conjunction with your main breaker, so the whole panel is available and you choose what to run by which branch breakers you leave closed. The trade-off is that the inlet box has no built-in smart circuits, so you cannot set per-circuit priorities in the Anker app during an outage the way you can with the Power Dock. Load management is manual, at the panel.
Can I mount it outdoors?
Yes. The enclosure is rated NEMA Type 3R and the unit is specified from -4 F to 131 F, protected against rain, snow and dust. No shelter is required. Mounting is wall-mount only, so a flat exterior wall that can carry 14.3 lb plus the cable weight is what you are looking for.
What breakers does the installation need, and are they included?
They are not included. Anker specifies a 40 A breaker for the grid port and a 50 A breaker for the off-grid port. Your electrician will also need an interlock kit that is listed for your specific panel brand and model, which is a code requirement in most jurisdictions and not something to improvise.
How far can the inlet box be from the E10?
5.9 ft (1.8 m). That is the length of the cable that connects the E10 AC port to the inlet box AC port, and it is a hard limit rather than a recommendation. Work out both mounting positions before anyone drills, because it is the constraint that most often forces a rethink on install day.
Does it work with rooftop solar I already have?
Yes. Three current transformers ship in the box: L1, L2 and PV. The PV transformer clamps onto your solar feed so the system can see production and bank surplus instead of exporting it. The system detects current flow direction on its own, so the CT arrows do not have to be aligned by hand during installation.
Will it actually lower my electric bill when the grid is up?
That is what the on-grid port is for. Self-Consumption mode stores excess solar, and Time-of-Use mode charges on cheap off-peak power and discharges during expensive peak hours. Anker rates the combination at up to 80 percent off an electricity bill. Your real number depends on your utility rate structure and how much surplus you generate, so treat that figure as a ceiling rather than a forecast.
Can I install this myself?
We recommend a licensed electrician. This device lands on your main service panel, needs a listed interlock kit, generally requires a permit and inspection, and in some areas the utility has to pull the meter seal before the service conductors can be touched. The quick-connect cabling makes the electrician faster, not unnecessary.
