9kW AC Continuous · 12kW Solar · 500V MPPTs · NEMA 3R · 10-Year Warranty

Sol-Ark 12K All-In-One Hybrid Solar Inverter (120/240/208V, 48V)

The Sol-Ark 12K is the unit that made all-in-one hybrid inverters mainstream. Two 500V charge controllers, a battery charger, a transfer switch, arc-fault and ground-fault detection, current sensors and rapid-shutdown signalling are all inside one pre-wired NEMA 3R enclosure — which means one box to mount, one box to wire, and far fewer hours on your installer's invoice.

9,000W of continuous AC output with 16kVA of surge for ten seconds, up to 13kW of solar across two MPPTs, and 185A of battery charge and discharge on a 48V bank. It runs grid-tied, off-grid, or both, with or without batteries, and switches to backup in 4 milliseconds. Renewable Outdoors is an authorized Sol-Ark dealer — call us at (303) 876-7654 and we'll size it against your array and your loads.

Why the Sol-Ark 12K

Genuinely All-In-One

Charge controllers, battery charger, transfer switch, AFCI/GFCI, CTs and rapid-shutdown signalling in one pre-wired enclosure.

9kW Continuous, 25kVA Peak

16,000VA for ten seconds and 25,000VA for 100 milliseconds off-grid — well pumps and compressors start without complaint.

120V, 240V and 208V

Split-phase output that behaves like the grid, so 120V, 240V and 208V appliances all run directly.

Two 500V MPPTs, 13kW PV

Up to 6,500W per tracker across two strings each, with a 175–425V operating window.

4ms Transfer to Backup

Fast enough that computers, networking gear and modern appliances never register the outage.

IP65 / NEMA 3R, 10-Year Warranty

Rated for outdoor mounting from −25°C to 55°C, with a ten-year warranty from a US company.

What's Included

Sol-Ark 12K inverter

In the Box

  • 1 × Sol-Ark 12K hybrid inverter (12K-2P), pre-wired
  • Current transformers (CTs) for grid sensing
  • Mounting hardware and wiring knockouts
  • Installation manual and warranty documentation
  • EMP hardening applied at the factory, if you select that option

Batteries, PV modules, disconnects and conduit are not included. Rapid-shutdown transmitters, upgraded CTs and the PowerView dongle are separate accessories we also stock. Call us at (303) 876-7654 and we'll build the full parts list with you.

Standard or EMP Hardened?

The inverter is electrically identical in both options. EMP hardening is a factory-applied shielding package.

Option What It Adds Who Chooses It
Standard (12K-2P) The inverter as Sol-Ark ships it — full feature set, full 10-year warranty The overwhelming majority of residential and small commercial installs
EMP Hardened (12K-2P-EMP) Factory-applied electromagnetic pulse shielding on the same inverter Preparedness-focused buyers and sites where an EMP or severe geomagnetic event is part of the threat model

EMP hardening changes nothing about how the inverter performs day to day — same output, same solar input, same warranty. It is a resilience decision rather than a performance one. Call us at (303) 876-7654 if you'd like to talk it through.

Sol-Ark 12K All-In-One Hybrid Solar Inverter (120/240/208V, 48V): Frequently Asked Questions

Is 9kW or 12kW the real output figure?
Both, depending on what you're measuring. 9,000W is the continuous AC output from the inverter itself. 12,000W is the total the system can deliver when battery output and live solar production are working together. When you're sizing backup loads, plan around the 9,000W continuous figure and treat the surge ratings — 16kVA for ten seconds, 25kVA for 100 milliseconds — as your headroom for motor startup.
Can it run without batteries?
Yes. The 12K works as a straight grid-tied solar inverter with no battery bank attached, and you can add batteries later without replacing anything. That's a genuinely useful path if you want solar now and storage when the budget allows.
What batteries does it work with?
It's battery-agnostic across 48V lithium systems, communicating with the BMS over CAN or RS485. That means EG4, Ruixu, SOK, Fortress and most other major 48V server-rack and wall-mount batteries. Call us at (303) 876-7654 with the battery you have in mind and we'll confirm the pairing.
How much solar can I connect?
Up to 13,000W of panel across two MPPTs, with 12,000W usable. Each tracker takes two strings within a 175–425V window and 500V maximum. Oversizing the array relative to the inverter is normal practice and Sol-Ark allows for it.
What do Meter Zero and Time-of-Use modes actually do?
Meter Zero holds your grid import at approximately zero by matching your consumption with solar and battery, which is useful where your utility doesn't pay well for exported power. Time-of-Use charges the batteries when electricity is cheap and discharges them when it's expensive. Both are settings in the inverter rather than extra hardware.
Do I need a licensed electrician to install this?
Yes. A hybrid inverter ties into your main electrical service, and in every US jurisdiction that is licensed work requiring a permit and an inspection. The unit itself is pre-wired, which shortens the job considerably compared with assembling separate components, but it is not a DIY installation. We can talk you through what your installer will need before you order.
What is EMP hardening, and do I need it?
It's a factory-applied shielding package that protects the inverter's electronics against an electromagnetic pulse. It doesn't change performance, output, or warranty in any way. Most buyers don't choose it; those who do are usually building a system explicitly for long-term resilience. It's entirely a judgement call about your own threat model.
Can I put two of them together?
Yes — the 12K supports parallel stacking for higher output. If you already know you'll need more than 9kW continuous, it's worth comparing the cost of two 12Ks against a single 15K or 18K first. We're happy to run that comparison with you.
Can it be mounted outside?
Yes. It's rated IP65 / NEMA 3R and specified from −25°C to 55°C. Shade is still worth providing where you can — every inverter derates in sustained high heat, and direct summer sun on a south wall is the hardest case.
Do you offer financing or price matching?
Yes. We offer 0% APR financing options through Affirm at checkout, and our Lowest Price Guarantee applies — if you find this model cheaper at another authorized dealer, call us at (303) 876-7654 before you order and we'll take care of it.
