A 50 A, 10-circuit manual transfer switch and the cable to connect it to an F3800. It is the least expensive way to get a power station feeding actual household circuits rather than extension cords, and because it is a listed transfer switch rather than an interlock or an improvised connection, it satisfies UL 1008 and NEC 702 for a legal installation.

Manual means manual, and it is worth being clear about that. When the grid drops you go to the switch and move the circuits over. When the F3800 runs flat you disconnect it and recharge it from a wall outlet or from solar. Expansion batteries and solar panels are sold separately. The transfer switch installs alongside your existing panel and must be wired by a licensed electrician; a permit is generally required. This is a manual system, so plan on operating the switch yourself during an outage and recharging the F3800 from a wall outlet or solar once it is depleted.

Does this switch over automatically?
No. This is a manual transfer switch, and that is the trade for the lower cost. When the grid drops you go to the switch and move your circuits to backup. When the F3800 is depleted you disconnect it from the switch and recharge it from a wall outlet or solar. If you want automatic transfer, the Smart Home Power Kit with the Home Power Panel does that in about 30 milliseconds.
How is this different from the Smart Home Power Kit?
Three ways. This one transfers manually and that one transfers automatically. This one cannot charge from rooftop solar or run Time-of-Use bill savings; the Home Power Panel is what enables those. And this one costs considerably less and installs more simply, because it is a switch beside your panel rather than a smart panel and a sub panel replacing part of it.
Which ten circuits should I choose?
Refrigeration, lighting, networking, a furnace blower and a well pump are the usual core. The 50 A rating and the built-in wattage meter give you room for one or two 240 V circuits alongside the 120 V ones. Decide the list with your electrician before the work starts, because changing it later means opening the panel again.
Do I need an electrician?
Yes. The transfer switch wires into your existing panel and a permit is generally required. The installation is simpler than a smart panel and sub panel, but it is still panel work on a live service, which is not a DIY project.
Will it run my whole house?
It will run the ten circuits you put on it, at up to 6,000 W from one F3800 or 12,000 W from two. Whether that feels like your whole house depends on what you nominate. Central air conditioning on a hot day is where a single unit runs out of headroom.
Can I charge the F3800 while it is connected to the switch?
Anker states that when the F3800 is recharging with AC power, only its 120 V UPS outlet is available for other devices. In practice a depleted unit gets disconnected from the switch, recharged, and reconnected. Solar charging is the way around this, and it is the main argument for adding panels to a manual setup.
Can I use this with F3800 Plus units?

Can I upgrade to automatic later?
You would be adding the Home Power Panel and a sub panel, which is a second electrical job rather than a swap. If you think automatic transfer or solar integration is where you will end up, buying the Smart Home Power Kit at the outset costs less than doing both.
