How does the Eco Series differ from Essential, Pro and Elite?
Eco is the entry point. It has no Bluetooth, no internal heating, and a 6-year warranty rather than 11 — but the cells are the same LFP chemistry, the BMS protections are there, and the cycle rating is actually higher than the Essential Series at 4,500+. It's the right buy when the battery lives somewhere warm and dry and you don't need app monitoring. If you need to charge below freezing, or want to see state of charge on your phone, step up to Essential.
What will 100Ah run?
1.28kWh covers a 12V compressor fridge for around a day, LED lighting and phone charging for several days, or a small inverter running a laptop and a TV for an evening. It's the standard building block for a modest RV or van house bank — many people run two or three in parallel.
Why does it have a higher cycle rating than the more expensive Essential Series?
Because cycle life and features are separate things. The Eco Series uses good cells and rates them at 4,500+ cycles; what it doesn't have is heating, Bluetooth or the longer warranty. You're paying more for the Essential Series to get those features, not to get better cells.
Can I charge it in freezing weather?
No — charging needs 32°F or above, because there's no internal heater. It will discharge happily down to −4°F, so it powers things in the cold; it just can't take a charge. If your battery lives in an unheated space through winter and you need to charge it there, buy a heated model instead.
Can I use it for a 36V or 48V trolling motor bank?
Up to four in series is supported, so three for 36V or four for 48V. That said, Epoch's purpose-built 36V and 48V batteries do the job in one case with better monitoring, and avoid the balance issues that come with series strings. Worth comparing before you commit.
How does it compare with a Group 24 lead-acid battery?
Same footprint, roughly a third the weight, twice the usable capacity for the same nameplate rating, and around fifteen times the cycle life. The purchase price is higher and the cost over the battery's life is much lower.
How many can I put in parallel?
Up to sixteen — 1,600Ah, or 20.48kWh at 12V. That's a genuinely large bank and more than most 12V systems should be, since at that scale a 48V architecture is usually the better engineering choice.
Why lithium iron phosphate rather than lead-acid?
You can use nearly all of the rated capacity rather than half, so an LFP battery does the work of a lead-acid one twice its size. It weighs roughly a third as much for the same usable energy. And it lasts thousands of cycles instead of a few hundred, so cost per useful cycle is far lower despite the higher purchase price.
Do I need a special charger?
You need one with a LiFePO4 profile. A lead-acid charger's voltages are wrong and will either undercharge the battery or hold it somewhere that shortens its life. Epoch's 12V 15A charger is a good match for a single battery; for a bank of two or three, the 12V 50A is a better fit.
Is there any monitoring at all without Bluetooth?
Not built in — you'd read state of charge from your charge controller, inverter or a shunt-based battery monitor. If seeing state of charge on your phone matters to you, the Essential Series adds Bluetooth and is worth the difference.
